Cuisine Chefs
A chef is a term commonly used to refer to an individual who has a career as a professional cook. Within a restaurant however, chef, which in French means chief or head, is the term often only used to refer to one person. The chef would be the one in charge of everyone else in the kitchen. This person is also commonly called the executive or cuisine chef. There are many different kinds of kitchen organizations, and they include many different titles and duties for each position in the kitchen depending on the particular place. In general however the hierarchy in a classical kitchen is as follows, the Executive chef, Chef de cuisine or Cuisine chef, Sous chef, Expeditor, Chef de partie, Cooks and assistants. The executive chef would be in charge of everything related to the kitchen, including the menu selection and creation, personnel management and business aspects. The executive chef could also be referred to as the head chef or just chef. The Chef de cuisine or Cuisine chef's placement in the kitchen will vary depending on the individual restaurant or locales hierarchy. Usually it is either equivalent to an executive chef position, which is a position overseeing numerous establishments in a group of restaurants in charge of several executive chefs or a position equivalent to a sous chef, under the command of an executive sous chef.
The Term Cuisine
A cuisine, from the French word meaning cooking, culinary art or kitchen is a specific set of cooking traditions and practices often associated with a place of origin. Religious food laws can also present a powerful influence on cuisine. A cuisine is primarily influenced by the ingredients that are available locally. A cuisine chef might specialize in a certain cuisine depending on where they originate from or what they have studied. Today because the last century has produced enormous improvements in food production, preservation, storage and shipping almost every local in the world has access to not only its traditional cuisine, but also to many world cuisines as well. New cuisines are constantly being created as certain aesthetics are developed among professional chefs. In addition to food, a cuisine is also often held to include beverages, including wine, liquor, tea, coffee, and other drinks. Cuisine is typical of almost all cultures around the world. World cuisine is a term referring to the different cuisines that exist around the world. A certified cuisine chef would distinctly be cooking a certain cuisine, and considered for instance a French cuisine chef, or an American cuisine chef. Each country or culture may have their own specific cuisine that is distinct by virtue of obvious uses of foodstuffs that are local to the region. This can be explained by many recipes being approximations of similar tastes groupings. These groupings that are desirable among human beings result from our food preferences being partially genetic in nature such as the balance of sweet and sour in many cuisines being paired together to overpower lower quality cuts of meat like sweet and sour chicken. World cuisine is mostly distinct from international cuisine which refers to the conscious usage of a variety of cultures' foods and preparation methods such as Ranch Chicken Pizza, which is Pizza made with ranch dressing and chicken. A cuisine chef would prepare certain recipes from certain cultures such as Japan, and then be a Japanese cuisine chef, however an international cuisine chef would be using a multiplicity of culture's foods and preparation methods to create new food ideas.|
